WelcomeThe European Conference on Machine Learning and Principles and Practice of Knowledge Discovery in Databases (ECML PKDD) will be located in Antwerp, Belgium, from September 15th to 19th, 2008. This event builds upon a very successful series of 18 ECML and 11 PKDD conferences, which have been jointly organized for the past seven years. It has become the major European scientific event in these fields and in 2008 it will comprise presentations of contributed papers and invited speakers, a wide program of workshops and tutorials, a discovery challenge, a panel, a demo track and an industrial track.

NewsList of accepted papers onlineThe list of accepted papers is now available online. Out of 521 submissions, 105 submissions were accepted for presentation at the conference, of which 7 will be published directly in the Machine Learning journal, 7 will be published directly in the Data Mining and Knowledge Discovery journal, and 85 research papers and 6 demo papers will be published in the LNAI proceedings of the conference. Registration Site OpenThe conference registration site is now open! For only 320 euros, registered participants may freely attend all ECML and PKDD sessions, as well as workshops and tutorials. All coffee breaks, receptions, and the banquet are included and the full conference proceedings, workshop proceedings, and tutorial notes will be made available on a USB memory stick. Discovery ChallengeThis year's discovery challenge presents two tasks for the social bookmark and publication sharing system BibSonomy. One task covers spam detection and the other covers tag recommendations. The presentation of the results will take place at the ECML PKDD workshop where the top teams are invited to present their approaches and results.
