ECML PKDD 2008

The University of Antwerp is hosting ECML PKDD 2008 in its buildings in the city center. This location is at a convenient walking distance from the hotels and the touristic city center. All workshops, tutorials, parallel sessions, and coffee breaks will take place in the university building and lecture halls at the Rodestraat.

The plenary sessions, for the invited talks and conference opening will take place in the Aula Rector Dhanis, the recently constructed conference centre of the University of Antwerp.

The Tuesday poster reception will take place in Stuurboord hall at Hangar 26, a renovated warehouse where you can experience an amazing view over the river Schelde. Following the poster reception, you can relax on the terrace overlooking the river or join the swinging ECML PKDD dance party with a live band and a DJ.

The banquet on Wednesday, preceded by a diamond cocktail, will take place in the Art Nouveau hall of Grand Café Horta. Grand Café Horta pays ultimate tribute to Art Nouveau leader Victor Horta, by recycling the original wrought iron girders rescued from Horta’s “Maison du Peuple” (House of the People), demolished in Brussels in 1965.

We selected the Kanunnik Van Gessel hall of the Cultural Conference Center Elzenveld as the setting for our poster reception on Thursday evening.
The Elzenveld used to be a hospital for many centuries and is since the award winning restauration of 1988 one of the most unique conference centers in the Benelux area.
